I am going to use this page to hopefully keep you informed of how I think the band is progressing. I may from, time to time, make comments aimed at a particular section or sections. These are purely to help and aid your home practice. If you want to talk to me about these comments contact me.
Dear band member,
Already we have a busy schedule planned for late Spring and Summer. I would like to ask you to attend the band rehearsals and jobs so that we can put on a better than average performance. It is important to me as it should be to you to do this. I appreciate you have holidays but I really need to know in plenty time if you cannot manage so that cover can be arranged. This is not always possible at short notice. If you don't turn up we end up with a gap: not only is the person missing, but the music is missing as well, which distracts from the performance.
We are very close to purchasing a set of Timpani. In fact, I am hoping they arrive before the first job in Blackburn on the 2nd of May. "Maxi you will have a lot to do to catch up on the music side of things."
Dare I say the word dedication we really need more of it. Nearly all of us have other activities we are involved in and so we should have, but please don't forget how much this band needs you. We are doing very well and it is up to all of us to make the band something we are proud of and proud to be a part of.
On a personnel note I would like to have at least 4 soloist's for the jobs. Tony, Iona, Jill and Andrew, Laura Brook, Fred and Lorna, Rachel Hirsch you are all capable of standing up or at the very least being featured. It is also my intention to feature some of our younger members Lara and Judy hopefully will perform later in the year. But don't let me stop any of from volunteering.
